Choosing a glass washer for your pub or bar
We sell commercial glass washers from Classeq and Blizzard, and every machine in this range comes with free delivery to the UK mainland. Our own engineers can install it and service it afterwards. If you’d rather not pay up front, you can rent one instead.
How many glasses do you wash at once?
Basket size is the width of the square rack. A 350mm basket holds about 12 pint glasses, a 400mm about 16 and a 500mm about 25. A 350mm machine suits a small bar where counter space is tight, and a 500mm suits a venue that turns glasses over all night. The bigger machines also have a taller opening: 352mm on the Classeq C500 against 312mm on the C400, which matters if you wash tall glasses or jugs.
13 amp plug or hard-wired?
The 13 amp models plug into a standard socket. The Classeq C400 and C500 also come in 30 amp single-phase and 3-phase versions, which are hard-wired. Those have a 6kW rinse heater instead of 2kW, so the rinse water gets back up to temperature faster between cycles, which helps when baskets go through back to back. Ask an electrician to check your supply before you order a hard-wired model. Our guide to 3-phase power explains what to look for.
Is your water hard?
Hard water leaves limescale on the glasses and inside the machine. The Classeq C400WS and C500WS have a water softener built in, and so does the 500mm Blizzard Storm Plus. Your water company can tell you how hard the water is at your address. Every Classeq model here is listed as WRAS compliant, and our guide to WRAS approval explains why that matters.
Where will it drain?
If the waste pipe sits lower than the machine, it can drain by gravity. If it doesn’t, you need a drain pump to push the waste water up to the outlet. Every Classeq model in this range has one, and so does each Blizzard Storm with “Drain Pump” in its name.
Buying or renting
Classeq machines come with a two-year parts and labour warranty, and Blizzard machines with one year. Installation by our engineers is charged separately when you buy. You can also rent a glass washer from £65 a month + VAT. The rental price includes installation, staff training, and parts and labour for as long as you rent, with no callout charge for breakdowns.
