Commercial glass dryers for pubs and bars

A wet glass ruins a pint. Lager poured into a damp or warm glass loses its head, goes flat and comes back to the bar. On a busy night most bars wash glasses faster than they can dry them, and that is what holds service up.

A commercial glass dryer sits on the back bar and blows high-speed air through a full basket of glasses straight out of the glasswasher. Nobody polishes by hand, and no tea towel that has been round the bar three times touches the glass.

Why air-dry instead of hand polishing

Hand polishing puts a cloth on every glass, and that cloth goes back in the drawer damp. Air-drying skips it. The glasses come out dry and at room temperature, ready to pour into, with nothing to launder. On a full basket it beats two staff with tea towels, and it frees them for the bar.

DriPod glass dryers

We stock the DriPod range, built by Nordik. There are two models, and the choice is basket size.

  • DriPod 400 takes a basket up to 400mm. One high-speed fan, 115W, 8.9kg. From £539.99 ex VAT.

  • DriPod 500 takes a basket up to 500mm, and its twin fans clear a full rack faster. 230W, 12.4kg. From £594.99 ex VAT.

Both are built in 304 stainless steel throughout, so they stand up to a wet bar without rusting. Each runs from a standard 13A socket on 220-240V single phase, with one illuminated on/off switch and no timer to set. The warranty is a year, parts and labour, so an engineer comes to you rather than the unit going back to the maker.

If you used to buy the Airack range from us, the DriPod 400 and DriPod 500 are the equivalents for 400mm and 500mm glasswasher baskets.

Choosing the right size

Match the dryer to your glasswasher rack and you can move a full basket across without handling a glass.

  • 400mm suits smaller bars, cafés and single-machine sites. DriPod 400.

  • 500mm suits high-volume bars, clubs and event venues. The DriPod 500 also takes a 450mm rack.

Can I rent a glass dryer?

Yes. We rent glass dryers on the same all-inclusive terms as our glasswashers and dishwashers, with a six-month minimum term. See glass dryer rental for current prices.

Do commercial glass dryers need special wiring?

No. Every glass dryer we sell is a 13A plug-in appliance on a 220-240V single-phase supply. Unpack it, plug it in and use it. It sits on the bar, or on a stand if you would rather keep the counter clear.

How long does a glass dryer take?

It depends on the glass and how full the basket is. A basket of pint glasses straight out of a hot glasswasher is usually dry in a few minutes. The DriPod runs until you switch it off, so you set the cycle by eye.

How much does a glass dryer cost to run?

Very little. The DriPod 400 draws 115W and the DriPod 500 draws 230W, less than most back-bar lighting.
